This weekend in Singapore is called the Jubilee Weekend because our country is celebrating its 50th Birthday. On 9th August 1965, Singapore separated from the Federation of Malaysia and became an independent country. And we haven't looked back since as our tiny nation (a little red dot) progressed and grew to what it is today, a David among many Goliaths! And we have triumphed :)
It's because of Singapore's growth and economic / financial standing that I can indulge in my hobby of toy collecting. The stable economy with ample job opportunities and strong Singapore dollar makes it easier on the pocket when it comes to buying toys and action figures. Our strong infrastructure connects us with a network that is secure and fast so that I can share and blog about toys and action figures from my safe and comfortable home. Not having to worry about where my next meal is going to come from, protected from almost all major natural catastrophes (earthquakes, tsunami, volcano eruptions, hurricanes / cyclones / typhoons etc) and being able to live at peace in a multi-racial, multi-cultural society all adds to a very conducive environment for a thriving market which lets me enjoy my hobby. Being close to China also means that we get our toys and figures first before most people (except Hong Kong). What a blessing it is to be a Singaporean and I am very proud to be one!

It's a time for celebration and what better way to celebrate the occasion for a Singapore born and bred toy collector and blogger than to collect MORE toys / action figures and share my haul with the rest of the world LOL
So let me share with you my haul for August 2015 so far: there's the Square Enix Play Arts Kai Star Wars Variant 1:7 scale Boba Fett action figure, Hot Toys "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure, Pangaea Toy 1:6 scale Russell Crowe as Gladiator General Maximus 12-inch Figure (Arena version) and 1:1 scale Wolverine Collectible Light.

This Square Enix Play Arts Kai Star Wars Variant 1:7 scale Boba Fett action figure isn't your conventional movie-related Boba Fett Bounty Hunter action figure. This is the re-imagined Boba Fett which has been redesigned by the artists at Square Enix as part of their Play Arts Kai Star Wars Variant series. He looked so good in the preview pictures that I had to get him - you can check out the pictures HERE. Other Star Wars Variant figures have also been previewed including Darth Vader (posted HERE), Darth Maul (previewed HERE) and the Stormtrooper (pictures HERE) but I only liked this particular bad boy.
This is the Pangaea Toy PG02A Version A (Arena Version) 1:6 scale Russell Crowe as Gladiator General Maximus 12-inch Figure. Gladiator is a 2000 American-British epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott, starring Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Ralf Möller, Oliver Reed (in his final film role), Djimon Hounsou, Derek Jacobi, John Shrapnel, and Richard Harris. It has taken that long for this figure to be realized and I believe it's worth the wait. You can view the preview pictures posted on my toy blog HERE
Hot Toys "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow 12-inch Collectible Figure follows after the recently released "Avengers: Age of Ultron" 1/6th Captain America figure which was reviewed earlier HERE, HERE and HERE. Preview pictures of Hot Scarlett as Sexy Black Widow can be seen HERE. I never imagined that Black Widow would feature so prominently in the big screen version of The Avengers but the producers and director has managed to make it work and I love the casting of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.
This is a 1:1 scale Wolverine Collectible Light. I usually don't collect 1:1 scale props because they usually take up too much space and are quite costly. Better to get more action figures than one prop is my philosophy. But this particular HingSan Wolverine Collectible Light is just too good to resist. The price was most affordable and the features are great. The Wolverine claws are removable and can be placed back in the holder when not is use. There are four sets of projection lights which illuminate towards the claws and three lighting modes activated by touch sensor switch.
