August is almost coming to an end but not before I post my second haul of toys / action figures I managed to grab hold of before the month ends :) This simply translates to more fun stuff to post and more action figures to review on my toy blog. Among the stuff I got are: Hot Toys MMS276 1/6th scale John Matrix Collectible Figure from the 1985 American action thriller movie Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (preview pictures posted HERE), DC Collectibles Batman action figure from The New Batman Adventures animated series, Bandai Ultra-Act X S.H.Figuarts Ultraman action figure and the Playmobil 5367 City Action Special Forces Firefighter figure.
Commando was a box office success grossing over $57.5 million against a $10 million budget. The film debuted at number one on October 6, 1985 in the United States and spent three consecutive weeks at the top position. The original concept was for an Israeli special forces–Mossad agent who, sick of the continual death and destruction in the Middle East, emigrates from Israel to the United States, where he is forced out of his self-imposed retirement after his daughter is kidnapped. This was modified and further adapted when Schwarzenegger was cast; some of the original dialogue can be heard in the deleted scenes when Matrix says he regrets his past actions. Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays Col. John Matrix, a retired Delta Force operator who returns to battle to rescue his daughter who has been kidnapped.

Ultraman is Japan’s quintessential sci-fi superhero and has enjoyed massive popularity around the world for more than 40 years. In 2011, a manga adaptation simply titled ULTRAMAN began serialization in Shogakukan's Monthly Hero's magazine. With an exciting original story that expands the premise of the original 1960s TV show, ULTRAMAN is wonderfully updated for a whole new generation of fans.

This is the DC Collectibles Batman action figure from The New Batman Adventures animated series. These are larger size figures following the designs of Bruce Timm who first created the Batman: The Animated Series which ran from 1992 till 1995 and was followed by The New Batman Adventures which aired in 1997 till 1999. The animated TV series were a huge success and it certainly got me hooked from the very first episode. So when the toys were released, I started collecting and that was back in 1994. My very first post on this toy blog on July 18, 2007 was about the Batman Animated action figures - you can check out the post HERE. I even considered calling this toy blog THE BATCAVE but decided to go with TOY HAVEN instead because I didn't just collect Batman action figures.
It seems someone at DC thinks like I do because they released Batman from The New Batman Adventures animated series but chose to release Catwoman from the original Batman: The Animated Series. The Catwoman in The New Batman Adventures animated series was too stylized for my liking and I much prefer this DC Collectibles Catwoman action figure from Batman: The Animated Series as she looks sexier and is more in line with the comic book character.
