My haul of September 2016 includes: DollsOddSaga 1/6th scale "Outer Heaven" Exo-skeleton Elysium collectible figure, Hot Toys Toy Fair Exclusive "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1/6th scale Knightmare Batman Collectible Figure and Cube Co. Star Wars R2-D2 USB Hub.
Ben Affleck gained fame when he and childhood friend Matt Damon won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting (1997) which he and Damon also starred in. So it's rather timely that I got both a 1/6th scale Ben Affleck Batman figure and a 12-inch Matt Damon Elysium figure at the same time. The R2-D2 USB Hub may not be a collectible but it certainly makes working at my desktop far more enjoyable :) Check out my review of the Cube Co. Star Wars R2-D2 USB Hub in this toy blog post.

In the 2016 superhero film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", there is a scene where Bruce Wayne dreams of a post-apocalyptic world where Superman has become a tyrannical dictator and the ruler of the planet, while he leads a rebellion against him. We see an armed-up Batman scavenging a post-apocalyptic landscape, where Darkseid’s Omega symbol can be clearly seen. Could this Knightmare not be a nightmare at all, but a glimpse at an alternate reality? Or is this the future? And is this sequence even taking place on Earth? These are questions that remain unanswered, but will hopefully be addressed in Justice League.
The scene alone asks many questions which are yet to be answered. But from it comes this particular Batman figure, now known as Knightmare Batman and who can do justice to Batman other than Hot Toys in this 1:6 scale realization of the film / movie character played by Ben Affleck.
And to show that I don't just collect boxes which seem to be the thing these days with some people (see my toy blog post titled "Hot Toys Collector or Hot Toys Box Collector? Age-old question: To open / not to open the toy"HERE), I've posted pictures of the figures in the box until I take them out to review them :)
Knightmare Batman carries a modified FN SCAR-L assault rifle with a Sightmark Mini Shot reflex sight, cloth wrapped around the forend, and a joker card taped to the stock as well as a Colt M1911A1 pistol. Batman supposedly is against the use of firearms which is why he fashioned the batarangs and other bat-gadgets tucked into his utility belt. So to see Knightmare Batman resorting to conventional firearms is certainly an eye-opener.
Hot Toys MMS372 Toy Fair Exclusive "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" 1/6th scale Knightmare Batman Collectible Figure comes with three interchangeable lower part of faces capturing Ben Affleck’s facial expressions. Preview pictures of this figure were posted earlier on my toy blog HERE
Elysium is a 2013 science fiction action thriller film produced, written and directed by Neill Blomkamp. Neill Blomkamp is best known as the co-writer and director of the critically acclaimed and financially successful science fiction film District 9. Elysium was the follow-up and he rounded it off with Chappie.
In Elysium, Matt Damon is Max Da Costa who has a powered exoskeleton surgically attached to him after he is hit by a lethal dose of radiation during an industrial accident.
Max De Costa (Matt Damon) also grabs a fictional "ChemRail" rifle during the fight in the Elysium armory. The ChemRail has a high rate of fire, and its high-velocity rounds rip right through walls and shred enemies.
When DollsOddSaga previewed their 1:6 scale "Outer Heaven" collectible figure (see pics HERE), I was pretty much sold. There aren't that many 1/6th scale powered exoskeleton suits out there (NOT counting all the Iron Man suits) and some of the iconic ones would be James Cameron's towering AMP suits lumbering through the alien jungles of Pandora in Avatar, the Caterpillar Power Loader in Aliens, the APU suits from Matrix Revolutions and the battle suits from Edge of Tomorrow.
The MATTEL: James Cameron's Avatar RDA Combat AMP Suit was reviewed earlier on this toy blog HERE and HERE. Hot Toys Aliens 1:6 scale Power Loader with 12-inch Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley figure posted HERE. Sega "Aliens: Colonial Marines" Collector's Edition 8-inch (20cm) tall Power Loader Figurine covered HERE. Pictures of the 1992 Kenner "Aliens" Ripley action figure operating the Kenner Power Loader can be seen HERE and pics of both the 1992 Kenner ALIENS Space Marine Power Loader and the 1994 Kenner ALIENS Queen Hive playset can be seen HERE.

Manuel (Adrian Holmes) gives Max De Costa (Matt Damon) a modified AKM before the brain data heist. The rifle is loaded with fictional 7.62 x 39mm airburst munitions, and is fitted with an advanced (and fictional) computerized targeting system that includes a holosight, aiming laser, and rangefinder. The targeting system allows the operator to determine the range at which the airburst munition will detonate, similar to the real-life XM25.
Max De Costa (Matt Damon) also grabs a fictional "ChemRail" rifle during the fight in the Elysium armory. The ChemRail has a high rate of fire, and its high-velocity rounds rip right through walls and shred enemies.
