Review NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Robot Action Figure (Sound Effects & Dialogue)

"Please put down your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply."

The Enforcement Droid, Series 209, or ED-209, are a fully-automated series of peacekeeping machines created by Omni Consumer Products. During its first demonstration, ED-209 malfunctioned disastrously, blasting junior executive Mr. Kinney to death over a sustained period of time. Dr. McNamara and his fellow technicians struggled to gain control over the 209, having to pull some sort of plug to finally shut it down. Because of the Kinney tragedy, the RoboCop program was given the green-light.

This is the NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Boxed Action Figure with Sound Effects and Dialogue that I got recently (check out my mid-March haul HERE). I usually get mainly 1/6 scale figures and accessories but once in a while, I find something that I cannot resist and this NECA ED-209 robot action figure is one of them. Sure I've seen the latest version from the recently released RoboCop reboot / remake of the 1987 film of the same name but I still prefer this classic version. ED-209 was designed to look impressive and flashy but it really isn't very reliable "under the hood". It got me at "Impressive and Flashy" ;p Scroll down to see the pictures

NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Robot Action Figure comes in a nicely designed and illustrated box with its features printed on the back: Push button to activate authentic sound effects and dialogue, extending legs and fully articulated. To my surprise, I discovered that there are no instructions included with this boxed figure.

ED-209 is securely fastened inside the box with lots of twisty ties. Haven't had to deal with these for a while now since switching over to 1/6 scale figures.

Presenting the NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Boxed Action Figure with Sound Effects and Dialogue. Scroll down to check out the turnaround views. This figure looks really good with nice details and seems quite movie-accurate. It is armed with three auto-cannons on two rotating gun platforms, with two guns on the left platform, one on the right platform with an auto-shotgun and a rocket launcher capable of firing three rockets. Hot Toys 1/6 scale ED-209 released in 2006 had four 20 mm machine guns, two on each side which was incorrect. You can check out the pictures HERE.

From the back, ED-209 looks like a frog ;p The battery compartment is located just at the bottom of the back. You can see the plastic transparent tab used to prevent the batteries from being activated. Once you pull off the tab and press the button on the right-hand side (see the next picture below), you will activate the authentic sound effects and dialogue.

Some of the design features on ED-209 are supposed to accentuate the "style over substance" comparison to corporate-designed low-bid automobiles, such as how it has metal grating around the front of the head like some modern SUV's - which apparently is only there to look "cool", and has no real function.

From a purely physical standpoint the ED-209 is ill-suited to urban pacification and police work: it has difficulty simply climbing stairs. But it does look pretty impressive!

NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Robot Action Figure with legs extended

The authentic sound effects and dialogue are activated by pressing the button on the right-hand side of the robot / machine. A timely reminder to remove all batteries if you have no intention to play with the sound effects. Batteries left in the compartment for too long WILL leak and damage the electronic components and you will end up with a malfunctioning ED-209. Hot toy collecting tip #1: Remove ALL batteries! Check out my post HERE.

Close-up views / shots of the auto-cannons (20mm machine guns) on the left arm.

Close-up picture of the three-round rocket launcher on the right arm

The dome-shaped head of ED-209 is designed without eyes as eyes humanize the robot / machine

NECA 10-inch ED-209 and McFarlane 7-inch Robocop action figure: two peas in a pod

continued from previous post...

Having reviewed the pretty awesome NECA Robocop 10-inch tall ED-209 Robot Action Figure (with Sound Effects & Dialogue) in the previous post, here are pictures of NECA 10-inch ED-209 and McFarlane 7-inch Robocop action figure standing together for a comparison of size. 7-inch RoboCop and 10-inch ED-209 seems to be of the right scale and height.

RoboCop and ED-209 seems to be made for each other. I don't think you can have one without the other. RoboCop was made possible because of the disastrous malfunctioning of ED-209 during it's first introduction. And RoboCop got to meet ED-209 in the office of OCP Senior President Richard "Dick" Jones when RoboCop goes to arrest Dick. All these happened in the 1987 science fiction action film "RoboCop" directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller as Officer Alex Murphy / RoboCop, not the 2014 remake of RoboCop, directed by José Padilha, with Joel Kinnaman playing the title role of Alex Murphy and Gary Oldman as a new character named Norton, the scientist who creates RoboCop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.

The McFarlane Robocop action figure is a surprisingly good figure. Along with having a fantastic sculpt, it also features some nice articulation. It can move its head forward and back and side to side; the shoulders had swivel-hinges, allowing for some ball joint-like range of motion; it had ball jointed hips; a swivel at the waists and swivels at the wrists; and hinges at the elbows, knees and ankles.

The McFarlane 7-inch Robocop action figure has a smooth, glossy shine applied to its armor body, with a blueish gleam. We all know that Robocop was technically silver in the first film and blueish-silver in Robocop 2, but the touch of blue gives it a nice look and feel and I'm not particularly picky about it.

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures of NECA 10-inch ED-209 and McFarlane 7-inch Robocop action figure, including side profile comparisons. These two certainly make quite the pairing.

Review 1: OE (Original Effect) 1/6 Reborn Body - alternative female body for 1/6 scale kitbashing

$
0
0
This is the recently released OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body (female standard), an alternative female body to the ones being released by Phicen. Although touted as 1/6 scale, the figure is in fact 13 inches tall (33 cm in height from head to high heels) which makes it rather large for a sixth scale figure. 1:6 scale modeling, a.k.a. Playscale Miniaturism, is a hobby focusing on the collecting and / or customization of commercially produced 1:6 scale action figures and accessories. Most of this style of miniaturism is constructed around posable plastic figures. The average 1:6 figure stands roughly 30 cm (12 inches) tall, representing a 1.8 m (6 ft) tall human. So 13.5 inches is really rather BIG in sixth scale terms.

That being said, I still got this 13-inch tall OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body because I like the head sculpt. Probably because I grew up reading quite a bit of Manga (Japanese comics) and watching just as much Anime (Japanese animated productions), so much so that I have a thing for anime / manga styled figures. Which explains why I got myself two Kotobukiya Bishoujo collection 1/7th scale statues - X-Force Psylocke (reviewed HERE and HERE) and Wonder Woman (pictures HERE and HERE) even though statues are not my main focus in collecting.

I've also gotten the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch female action figure (posted HERE, HERE and HERE) as well as the Original Effect (OE) Army Attractive series 1/6 Viola 13.5-inch female action figure (reviewed earlier HERE and HERE). So this is my third Original Effect (OE) female figure so far.

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures and check out the new OE Reborn Body :)

I've actually covered the OE (Original Effect) 1/6 Reborn Body packaging in my earlier March haul post HERE but I guess it's worth repeating. The figure is packaged naked but she actually has black underwear included. They are packed under her high heel feet.

Here's OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body that is 13 inches tall from head to heels. She comes with black high heels and has no feet. She also comes with a black bra top and panties. Scroll down to see the turnaround views.

The figure is very sturdy and although the torso / body is made of rubber-like material, the arms and legs / limbs are made of hard plastic. So's the head. The plastic material is not brittle but rather solid and durable, and can take some knocks without any problems. OE manage to match the color tones very well so much so that you can't tell from the pictures that they are made of different materials until you hold it in your hands.

Here are close-ups of the OE (Original Effect) 13-inch tall Reborn Body 1/6 scale female head sculpt. What can I say? I LIKE it ;p

Check out these close-up shots / views of the torso of OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body

NEXT: More pictures of OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body in other poses. Note: some of them are NSFW (Not Suitable / Safe For Work) ;p Don't say I didn't warn you.

“Like the view? It’s about the only thing you’re going to catch tonight.”

Gotham City’s most notorious cat burglar joins the Sideshow DC Comics collection with the Catwoman Premium Format Figure. Out on the prowl in her glossy black fitted jumpsuit and night-vision goggles, Selina Kyle steals the spotlight as she stops to give her trademark whip a twirl.

As one of Batman’s most popular foes, with a powerfully rich visual history spanning comic books, film and animation, there was no shortage of inspiration to draw from when it came to designing the Catwoman Premium Format Figure.

Sideshow’s artists created a unique interpretation of Gotham’s elusive thief that is fun, dangerous, and full of attitude. Brought to life with delicate sculpted details, Catwoman stands nearly two feet tall atop a cylindrical base with ferocious lion-themed architecture.

Scroll down to see the pictures.

While Selina may see the world in shades of grey, a high-contrast paint application with bold burgundy accents brings depth and dimension to the sleek villain, and her expertly hand-tailored real fabric costume completes the look. Collectors will be able to further customize the display by choosing from interchangeable masked and unmasked portraits, and positioning her separate cat companion figure as desired.

With a feline companion trailing at her feet, the sly and stealthy femme fatale shoots a mischievous glance over her shoulder. Whether she’s looking for her next heist, or a kiss from a certain caped crusader, one thing’s for certain – there’s gonna be bad luck for anyone who crosses this cat’s path.

Sideshow Exclusive – Make the ultimate getaway with the Sideshow Exclusive version of Catwoman Premium Format Figure, which includes an additional swap out hand grasping a pouch of dazzling jewels. You know what they say – diamonds are a cat, er… girl’s best friend.

Pre-order Go Hero, Executive Replicas and Phicen Ltd 1/6 scale Rocketman 12" figure

Radar Men from the Moon is Republic Pictures' first Commando Cody 12-chapter movie serial, filmed in 1952, and starring newcomer George Wallace as Cody, Aline Towne as his sidekick Joan Gilbert, and serial veteran Roy Barcroft as the evil Retik, the Ruler of the Moon. The odd naming choice of the serial's main hero, "Commando Cody," was possibly an attempt by Republic to make young audiences think they were seeing another adventure of Commander Corry, the hero of the popular ABC TV and radio series Space Patrol (1950–1955).

This serial recycles the rocket-powered flying suit from Republic's earlier 1949 serial King of the Rocket Men. The main character, Commando Cody, has a rocket-powered flying suit and a rocketship capable of reaching the Moon. When the U. S. finds itself under attack from a mysterious force that can wipe out entire military bases and industrial complexes, Cody surmises (correctly) that the Earth is under attack from its own Moon. He then flies his rocket there and confronts the Moon's dictator, Retik, who boldly announces his plans to both conquer Earth and then move the Moon's entire population here using spaceships.

This first ever 1:6 scale figure of the Rocketman, with the likeness of actor George Wallace, captures the retro-futuristic flying action that continues to influence countless entertainment properties from Star Trek to Star Wars to Dave Stevens’ The Rocketeer. Go Hero, Executive Replicas, and Phicen Ltd is proud to present, for the first ever as a 1:6 scale figure collectible, George Wallace as the Rocketman!

OE (Original Effect) 1/6 Reborn Body Review II - this one's NSFW (Not Suitable / Safe For Work)

continued from previous post...

This is my second part review of the OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body (female standard). I covered the packaging and showed turnaround views as well as close-up shots / pictures of the female head sculpt and upper torso previously. I wanted to show the figure in other poses as well, including some sexy NSFW poses to show off the articulation of this particular female body.

We have established that this figure is 13 inches tall (33 cm in height from head to high heels) which makes it rather large for a sixth scale figure. Yet she looks rather fine sitting on the 1/6 scale designer chair meant for 12-inch figures.

In the first few pictures, I have the OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body in a sitting position / seated posture to show how the legs can bend and how comfortable she can look seated. In the other pictures after, she's kneeling and her top is off so she has some covering up to do ;p Scroll down to see all the pictures.

OE (Original Effect) 1/6 Reborn Body comes with three extra pairs of hands (total of six spare hands): besides the relaxed hands she comes with, there are the fist hands, trigger hands and grasping hands.

Here are some pictures / shots taken of the OE (Original Effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body in a kneeling position with arms across her chest / ample bosoms because she's a rather modest gal ;p Her knees cannot bend any further so she won't be any good at "limbo rock" parties - just don't ask her how low she can go.

As I mentioned earlier, the torso / body is made of rubber-like material while the arms and legs / limbs are made of hard plastic. They match perfectly in color even though they are not made from the same materials. The arms can pop off their joints (especially at the shoulders when you try to bend them too much but not to worry, you simply just pop them back in because the rubber torso is most flexible and the entire body is rather durable). I believe the reason for not packaging her with her underwear (black bra and panties) is because OE is concerned that the fabric clothes might leave stains on the rubber body.

I also have comparison pictures HERE of the two female figures, along with other 12-inch gals.

continued from previous post...

Having just gotten the OE (Original Effect) 1/6 Reborn Body and reviewing it earlier HERE and HERE, it seems like OE is not waiting for feedback and has already decided to go ahead and launch the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body Standard Pack Version 2.0 with these preview / prototype pictures.

OE (original effect) 1/6 scale Reborn Body Standard Pack Version 2.0 will come with 1/6 scale female Head sculpt, 13-inch tall Reborn Body, Optional normal hand (1 pair), Optional sword-holding hand (1 pair), Optional foot (high‐heeled wooden clogs) x 1 pair, Optional foot (wedge sole) x 1 pair, Optional foot (spike heel) x 1 pair, Bear foot x 1 pair, Underwear (Pink)x 1 set.

The choice of underwear (I think it's the color) is not very good / flattering because it looks like the lady has a bulge at the crotch, which makes one think of the infamous lady boys of Thailand LOL. Scroll down to see the pictures :) The additional options of different types of feet is a very good move and OE should have done that from the get-go.

"My feet are killing me. I think I need to sit down."

Release date: May 2014

I've also gotten the OE (original effect) 1/6 scale killer instinct SAM 13-inch female action figure (posted HERE, HERE and HERE) as well as the Original Effect (OE) Army Attractive series 1/6 Viola 13.5-inch female action figure (reviewed earlier HERE and HERE). Review E&S (Easy & Simple) Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite) - Recommended

Part of my March 2014 haul (posted in my toy blog HERE)
and now for the full reveal :)

This is the E&S (Easy & Simple) 1/6 scale Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite). It comes with all you see in the picture below and more...

The Heckler & Koch HK416 is an assault rifle designed and manufactured by Heckler & Koch. It is based on the AR-15 platform, and was originally conceived as an improvement to the Colt M4 carbine family issued to the U.S. military, with the notable inclusion of an HK-proprietary short-stroke gas piston system derived from the Heckler & Koch G36. Military and law enforcement customers can purchase a new upper receiver, buffer, and drive spring to refurbish existing AR-15s, or buy new complete HK416s.

Click on the pictures for bigger and better views

The United States Army's Delta Force, at the request of R&D NCO Larry Vickers, collaborated with the German arms maker Heckler & Koch to develop the new carbine in the early 1990s. During development, Heckler & Koch capitalized on experience gained developing the Bundeswehr's Heckler & Koch G36 assault rifle, the U.S. Army's XM8 rifle project (canceled in 2005) and the modernization of the British Armed Forces SA80 small arms family. The project was originally called the HK M4, but this was changed in response to a trademark infringement suit filed by Colt Defense.

Delta Force replaced its M4s with the HK416 in 2004, after tests revealed that the piston operating system significantly reduces malfunctions while increasing the life of parts. The HK416 has been tested by the United States military and is in use with some law enforcement agencies and special operations units. It has been adopted as the standard rifle of the Norwegian Armed Forces as well.

Under the top tray that holds the HK416 is the 1:6 scale weapon display shelf / rack. Check out my earlier toy blog post HERE of 1:6 scale weapon racks.

Having gotten the MC Toys F-029 1/6 scale Snow Space set for 12-inch figures and kitting it out with the Nobody Toys "Dreamcatcher" 1:6 scale head sculpt of Leonardo DiCaprio HERE (head sculpt first reviewed HERE) for the Inception movie snow scene, I realized that Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) was missing the winterized Blaser R93 LRS2 Precision Sniper Rifle with suppressor in Fischer's Winter Fortress dream. Since I don't have a 1:6 scale winterized Blaser R93 LRS2 Precision Sniper Rifle with suppressor in my possession, this E&S (Easy & Simple) 1/6 scale Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite) - reviewed in the previous post HERE - will have to do for now.

In the previous review of the MC Toys F-029 1/6 scale Snow Space set, I had the hood down and Leo was not wearing the goggles (pictures HERE). In this latest toy blog post, hood is up and over, goggles are worn and he is armed with the E&S (Easy & Simple) 1/6 scale Assault Rifle 416 Special Forces set E (Frostbite), looking very much like how a snow trooper would look.

"Die Another Day" (released in 2002) is the twentieth spy film in the James Bond series, and the fourth and last film to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. "Die Another Day", produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, and directed by Lee Tamahori, marks the James Bond franchise's 40th anniversary. The series began in 1962 with Sean Connery starring as Bond in "Dr. No". "Die Another Day" includes references to each of the preceding films.

Halle Berry starred as Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson, an NSA agent. In discussing her character, Berry said "She's fashion-forward, very sexy and takes fashion risks, and I love her for that." According to an ITV news poll, Jinx was voted the fourth toughest girl on screen of all time.

In honor of the franchise's 40th anniversary, they had Jinx (Halle Berry) walking out of the sea in a bikini, wearing a white belt and a diving knife as a reference to Ursula Andress walking out in similar fashion in "Dr. No (1962)"

Blogging has its privileges :)

The stars of The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, along with director Marc Webb and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach were in Singapore last night at the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall as part of the promotion for the movie opening in Singapore on May 1, as well to promote Earth Hour on Saturday, March 29.

I was invited to be at the red carpet which was held at Marina Bay Sands The Skating Rink, Canal Level followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 International Press Conference at MasterCard Theatre.

The above picture shows the things I got prior to the event: Blu-ray DVD of The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man 12-inch figures from Hasbro Singapore, Spider-Man caps and Spider-Man masks. Scroll down to see pictures of the stars taken up close. I was able to get front and center second row seats at the Press Conference :) It was a blast!

Knowing Andrew Garfield was going to be there, I just have to bring along the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS179 1/6 scale The Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collectible Figure and hope that he'll autograph on it.

Pictures of the crowd and the International Press. Click on the pictures for bigger and better views. It was my first time at a red carpet event so it was certainly an eye opener.

I took videos of Spider-Man,

Emma Stone who plays Gwen Stacy

and Andrew Garfield who is the new Peter Parker / Spider-Man

It was a crazy crowd at the red carpet and everyone was jostling for a chance to get the stars to sign autographs. Even when they were on stage, it was impossible to see them because of the crowd.

Thankfully, I was able to get up close at the press conference as the stars (and director) took turns to answer the Press' questions. It was kind of surreal to see these guys (and gal) so close. They were all very warm and had no airs about them. Andrew Garfield was especially candid and personal.

This was the box I brought to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 red carpet event at Marina Bay Sands - the Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series MMS179 1/6 scale The Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Collectible Figure

And Andrew Garfield signed it :)

"Welcome to the Wild West!" Review of Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave – Call for the Cavalry!

As a kid growing up in the 70s, Westerns were the stable on television at the time with TV shows like "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin", "Bonanza", "Gunsmoke", "Have Gun – Will Travel", "Kung Fu", "The Lone Ranger", "The Wild Wild West" and "Zorro". So it was no surprise that I had a thing for cowboys and indians and it formed a part of my childhood. The Western Fort was something I was always into because they were built like the medieval castles, as a stronghold with high walls to protect those within and keep out intruders.

I got a huge surprise the other day when my wonderful wife decided to get me the Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave set out of the blue, no occasion called for it. She knew I was into Playmobil because in some way, they were the mini-mes to the 1/6 scale figures I collect. One of the earliest Playmobil figures I got was the Playmobil 3949 Deep Sea Diver (reviewed HERE) which was a miniaturised version of the GI Joe 1/6 scale 12 inch Deep Sea Diver (posted HERE). Since then, I've always been on a look out for similar Playmobil figures and the collection has grown.

But I have never bought any play sets because they were huge and would need a large display area. Knowing my liking for this particular Playmobil Western Fort Brave set, my dear wife decided to splurge and got me this fortress which I was obviously not going to decline :) This is the biggest Playmobil set I've ever owned and will probably be the only fort set I'll ever have.

PLAYMOBIL, Germany's largest toy manufacturer, is headquartered in Zirndorf, Germany and has been producing and distributing toys for more than 36 years. They were absent from Singapore for a while until recently when they "returned". The Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave box is big – it measures H 50 x W 60 x D 20 cm

Contents from the box. The Set includes: 6 figures, 3 horses, Cacti, Surrounding landscape and Supplies. This was the first time I ever had to assemble something from Playmobil. The box actually had "Instructions for parents: Time required for assembly – 60 minutes." No kidding ;p and it took that long LOL

Here's why assembly is required: everything comes in loose parts and you had to put them all together.

Here's the storage cabin for food, ammunition and weapons.

I just like the look and feel of Playmobil much more than Lego bricks. And Playmobil is much bigger too. And cheaper. And they don't come apart at all. And they have a more finished look. And they are FUN!

There are lots of trap-doors and openings, plus a firing cannon from the ramparts;

There's a lockable jail cell for keeping enemies / prisoners after capture. This cell is carved from the "rocks".

Construction of the raised look-out tower / post with a warning bell

Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave comes complete with a flagpole, a working cannon, a prison cell and more..., including cacti and shrubs, vegetation. The finished / assembled Playmobil Fort Brave measures 26 inches in Length x 22 inches Wide x 15.7 inches High

Supplies can be stored in the well protected Playmobil Western Fort. Supplies include: a crate of "munition" (ammunition / ammo), box and barrel of explosives, three bundles dynamite sticks, fire and coal for warming up in the cold night or heating up the branding iron for branding the horses...

Two sacks of rice, rifle rack and rocking chair.

Explore the frontier. Use the well-protected Western Fort as a base for expeditions into the wild frontier, where you’ll find outlaws, gold mines and plenty of cacti. Let your imagination flow.

The horses have reins, saddles and blankets. Hats are different for each rider with the General wearing what looks like a 10-gallon hat. He also comes with a sword belt and sword whereas the Corporal wears a gun belt with revolver gun.

A Fort is not complete without "enemies / intruders"! Check out the native American indians that are included with this Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave set in the NEXT post. It's getting interesting :)

No Western Fort is complete without the Red Indians. Ever wonder why they are called that?

continued from previous post...

Wild West forts weren't built to withstand sieges, simply because the Natives had no opportunity to use artillery or even massed assaults (except for very rare situations). The Army had no need to prepare for any sort of large scale battle, and instead needed to construct something that could at least keep the Natives out as well as to secure an area and give a location that soldiers and civilians could retreat to if necessary.

Besides the fort itself and soldiers, Playmobil 5245 Western: Fort Brave set also came with two Native Americans and their horse, plus weapons. The horse is different from that of the United States Cavalry and both American Indians are not identical.

Indigenous peoples of the United States are commonly known as Native Americans or American Indians, and Alaskan Natives. The European colonization of the Americas forever changed the lives and cultures of the peoples of the continents. Although the exact pre-contact population of the Americas is unknown, scholars estimate that Native American populations diminished by between 80 and 90% within the first centuries of contact with Europeans. Native Americans suffered high mortality rates due to their lack of prior exposure to these diseases. The loss of lives was exacerbated by violence on the part of colonists who frequently perpetrated massacres on the indigenous groups and enslaved them. (source: wiki)

Red Indians are now known as Native American or American Indians. The origin of the term "Red Man" is not clear. Native Americans are known to have a copperish or brownish hue although some Native Americans can get sunburn and turn redish. Many tribes did paint themselves for war and red may have been the most popular color to indicate tribes intention for combat. Other sources say red referred to the bloody scalps of victims.

Playmobil Red Indians also came with flaming arrows. In reality, flaming arrows aren't as simple as just lighting the end of an arrow on fire and shooting it. It requires covering the end in cloth and oil before dipping it in fire and lighting it up.

Extra accessories include flames and additional plant / shrub.

Square Enix is expanding their DC Comics line-up with a ton of new releases. While they are giving us all new designs with the DC Comics Variant figures, they are also releasing figures based on existing designs, including the Arkham series of Batman Video Games. Now they have released these official photos of their upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman Figure. Batman will also come with additional hands, a batarang and a grapnel gun.

Square Enix Play Arts Kai figures are big for action figures, at about 9 inches (23 cm) tall compared to the usual smaller size action figures. I've seen them around but was never compelled to get any of the figures, until now. This Square Enix Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman 9-inch tall figure looks very promising and I've always wanted an armored Batman in my collection. This should do nicely :)

Besides releasing the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman 9-inch (23 cm) tall figure, Square Enix will also be releasing the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Deathstroke 9-inch (23 cm) tall figure. Deathstroke will come with additional hands, a sword, a staff, rifle and a pistol.

Deathstroke the Terminator (also known by his name Slade Wilson, originally called simply the Terminator) is a comic book supervillain, and sometimes antihero, who appears in books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans (vol. 1) #2 (1980).

This is the Deathstroke who appears in Batman: Arkham Origins video game, voiced by Mark Rolston. He is among the eight assassins hired to kill Batman by the Joker.

Most of the other earlier releases by Square Enix looked too anime-ish for me, especially the head sculpts. But since Deathstroke is wearing a mask, I guess I won't be having any problems with that issue ;p Plus, he'll make a great companion piece to the Batman: Arkham Origins Play Arts Kai Batman.
