Original Effect Army Attractive series 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure Review II

continued from previous post...

This is how Original Effect Army Attractive series Vol. 1 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure looks complete with all her accessories. I had covered the basic female figure out of the box along with the box packaging, included comic in the previous toy blog post HERE. This second-part review of OE Viola covers the 1/6 scale accessories included which are: extra pair of gloved hands, revolver, cap, belt with holster, black overcoat with belt, arm band and cigar

As I mentioned before in my part 1 review, this Original Effect Army Attractive series female figure is not really in 1/6 scale because she is 13.5 inches tall which makes her too tall to be one sixth scale. The leg joints are really really loose (did I emphasize that enough?) and her legs just pop out of her body when you touch it or brush against it :( Her corset top doesn't want to stay up and keeps sliding down while her skirt keeps sliding up and every time her legs pop out, you have to pull up her stockings and adjust everything all over again. Needless to say, this photo shoot wasn't easy at all. Scroll down to see the fully clothed OE Viola female figure

OE Viola 1/6 scale accessories: black overcoat, extra pair of gloved hands, belt with holster, cap, revolver, arm band, cigar, coat belt. The coat has a symbol / badge at the back. It seems to have a face made up of a cross and skull on a shield.

Close-up of the accessories. The revolver is just one piece molded with no moving parts

The belt buckle too has a skull embedded on a cross. Instead of the Nazi swastika symbol, it's an "X"

The revolver is way too big for the hands. So is the cigar. They seem out of place, like they don't belong.

Here's Original Effect (OE) Army Attractive series Vol. 1 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure fully clothed. Viola comes with 1/6 scale Viola head sculpt, 13.5-inch tall female figure body with high-heeled feet, pair of gloved hands, revolver, cap, Bra / corset top, skirt, belt with holster, stockings, black overcoat with belt, arm band, cigar, tie and comic: Army Attractive Vol.1.

I much prefer Viola without the cap

Scroll down to see the turnaround views and pictures of this Original Effect Army Attractive series Vol. 1 1/6 scale Viola 13.5-inch female action figure (NOT a doll haha)

From Ted Menten: "G.I. JOE suffered from the NOT A DOLL problem until they coined the phrase ACTION FIGURE. Even then it was a serious problem since toy stores only had a DOLL section back then. Even Mattel had problems with the first KEN doll who was not listed as a "friend" but as an "accessory" in catalogs." LOL :)

"When Hasbro introduced the first NURSE she was not sold in the G.I. JOE section but in with other dolls. This was NOT a Hasbro decision but a store buyer decision. Years later she became one of the most sought-after figures."

"Female action figures have had a tough time in the market place. Years ago the first 6-inch X-MEN figure of 'Storm' just sat on the shelf."

Check out pictures of the X-Men Storm figure HERE

Now for some close-up views / photos of OE Viola

Because Original Effect Army Attractive series Vol. 1 1/6 scale Viola female action figure is 13.5 inches tall, she towers over all 12-inch figures and here are some comparison pictures of 13.5-inch Viola and Hot Toys 12-inch Silken Floss (Scarlett Johansson) as seen in "The Spirit"

I chose to put them together because they are both Nazi themed figures and go well together

Incoming: Super Duck C003 1/6 scale Hamburg Uncle Joker clothes set (Ronald McDonald?)

Ronald McDonald is a clown character used as the primary mascot of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain. In television commercials, the clown inhabits a fantasy world called McDonaldland, and has adventures with his friends Mayor McCheese, the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie the Early Bird, and The Fry Kids. In recent years, McDonaldland has been largely phased out, and Ronald is instead shown interacting with normal kids in their everyday lives.

From a toy company called Super Duck comes this 1/6 scale Hamburg Uncle Joker clothes set (C003) which looks to be based on Ronald McDonald the clown. Touted as a Funny set of outfits for your 1/6 action figure, it comes with the following: Shirt, Tie, Vest, Pants, pair of socks, pair of shoes, pair of gloved hands, Hamburger. The company says that the outfit fits most 12-inch action figure body in the market. What's most interesting is that the company Super Duck decided to put the outfit on a particular clown / joker character which makes it all the more enticing.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Street Fighter II: The World Warrior marks the first appearance of Chun-Li, an undercover Interpol agent looking to avenge the death of her father at the hands of Shadaloo leader M.Bison. Quickly gaining favor with gamers for her repertoire of fighting moves including the Hyakuretsu Kyaku (Lighting Kick) and Spinningu Badokyaku (Spinning Bird Kick) it’s no surprise she is often regarded to as the “first lady of fighting games”.

Expertly rendered in 1/7 scale the Chun-Li Bishoujo statue stands nearly 8 inches tall on her included display base. Based on an original illustration from world-renowned artist Shunya Yamashita, this is the inaugural release in a new series of highly collectable Street Fighter Bishoujo statues from Kotobukiya.

Gwendolyn Maxine "Gwen" Stacy is a fictional comic character who appears in books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in those featuring Spider-Man. A college student, Gwen Stacy was originally the first true love of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) before he developed deep feelings for her friend and rival, Mary Jane Watson. (source: wiki)

And from Sideshow Collectibles comes this J. Scott Campbell Spider-Man Collection 18-inch Gwen Stacy Polystone Statue (To Top of Head: 16-inch Height or 406.4mm)

Peter Parker's first true love is the gorgeous and brainy bombshell, Gwen Stacy. Sideshow is proud to share this one-of-a-kind design from renowned artist J. Scott Campbell. Capturing the vibrant heroine on an afternoon stroll through the rain, her knowing smile and carefree stride suggest that a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is watching over her wherever she goes.

Sideshow Collectibles had earlier previewed their J. Scott Campbell Spider-Man Collection Mary Jane Polystone Statue (pictures HERE) so this makes it their second in the series

Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, Gwen Stacy first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (December 1965).

The Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) caused Spider-Man to apparently accidentally kill Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man#121 (June 1973). Both the decision to kill Gwen and the method in which Marvel implemented it remain controversial among fans, but the death became a pivotal point in both Spider-Man’s history and in American comic books in general. Many point to Gwen's death as the end of the Silver Age of Comics

That doesn't bode well for Emma Stone who plays the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man's love interest Gwen Stacy in the new Spider-Man films

Preview DID 1/6 scale USMC Force Recon Brigadier General "Frank" 12-inch figure

The Rock is a 1996 action film that primarily takes place on Alcatraz Island and in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was directed by Michael Bay, director of Bad Boys and Pearl Harbor, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, producers of Top Gun and Crimson Tide, and stars Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris.

A group of rogue U.S. Force Recon Marines led by disenchanted Brigadier General Frank Hummel (Ed Harris) seize a stockpile of deadly VX gas–armed M55 rockets from a heavily guarded US Navy bunker, reluctantly leaving one of their men to die in the process, when a bead of the gas falls and breaks. The next day, Hummel and his men, along with more renegade Marines led by Captains Frye (Gregory Sporleder) and Darrow (Tony Todd), seize control of Alcatraz during a guided tour and take 81 tourists hostage in the prison cells.

Hummel threatens to launch the stolen rockets against the population of San Francisco unless the government pays them $100 million from a military slush fund containing money from illegal arms sales, which he will distribute to his troops and the families of Recon Marines who died on clandestine missions under his command and whose deaths were not honored.

DID 1/6 scale USMC Force Recon Brigadier General "Frank" 12-inch figure will come with 1/6 scale life-like head sculpt, New all-era 12-inch body, Three pairs of hands, white shirt, black tunic, pair of black trousers, pair of white trousers, US Marine Corps General Hat, pair of white gloves, pair of black socks, black belt, shoulder belt, small American flag, Medal of Honor, Marine Officer sword with carrier, 15 types of medals and insignia, bunch of white roses (paper and plastic), grave stone (resin), One piece of emulated lawn, pair of leather shoes

IMHO this looks to be the BEST 1/6 scale Ed Harris head sculpt so far

The Uniforms of the United States Marine Corps serve to distinguish Marines from members of other services. The Marine Corps dress uniform is an elaborate uniform worn for formal or ceremonial occasions. Its basic form of a blue jacket with red trim dates back to the 19th century. It is the only U.S. military uniform that incorporates all three colors of the U.S. Flag.

The most recognizable uniform of the Marine Corps is the Blue Dress uniform, often seen in recruiting advertisements. It is often called "Dress Blues" or simply "Blues". It is equivalent in composition and use to civilian black tie.

Blue Dress "A" has a long-sleeved midnight blue coat (enlisted members have red trim) with a standing collar and white web belt (with corresponding by rank gold waistplate) for enlisted; midnight blue for officers with a gold M-buckle, white barracks cover (a peaked cap), plain white shirt, sky blue trousers (midnight blue for general officers), white gloves, and black dress shoes and socks. Full-size medals are worn on the left chest, with ribbon-only awards worn on the right.

This is certainly a very elegant looking ceremonial uniform if I ever saw one :)

And DID's quality has always been rather top notch so I think this will be very nicely done indeed

Not sure if the placement of the medals are correct. There has been some rumblings on the forums regarding this.

Review 1: DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Spade 2 12-inch figure - animated Vinnie Jones

Having seen and reviewed DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J 12-inch figure (animated Jason Statham) in my earlier toy blog posts HERE, HERE and HERE, it's time to look at the recently released DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure which looks a lot like an animated Vinnie Jones.

Vincent Peter "Vinnie" Jones (born 5 January 1965) is a British actor and former professional footballer. Jones was renowned for his "hard man" image during his playing days. He was sent off 12 times in his career, as well as holding the record for the quickest ever booking in a football match, being booked after just three seconds for a foul on the opposition player Dane Whitehouse in a Premier League tie between Chelsea and Sheffield United in 1992. [source: wiki]

Vinnie Jones made his 1998 feature film debut in Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" alongside Jason Statham. The film brought Guy Ritchie international acclaim and introduced actors Vinnie Jones, a former Welsh international footballer, and Jason Statham, a former street merchant and men's wear model, to worldwide audiences. Jones later starred in Guy Ritchie's next blockbuster "Snatch" as Bullet-Tooth Tony.

While DAM Toys very first Gangsters Kingdom 12-inch figure Spade J was shipped in a plain black box packaging (see the pictures HERE), Spade 2 comes in a purple box with an illustration of the character on the back of the box.

The inside flap has a backstory: Nelson is Ogier's (Spade J) brother, a British orphan adopted by Ogier's father. Nelson trained as a boxer but enjoyed Baseball more, turning professional for a few years until his quick temper got the better of him. Ogier is the Jack of Spades while Nelson only got the 2 of spades. Nelson runs away and settles in the dangerous slums of Rio, "City of god" where he starts a business dealing in drugs and guns.

The playing card for Spade 2 in the Gangsters Kingdom

DAM Toys Spade 2 in the main tray

Spade 2 (Nelson) 1/6 scale accessories are in a tray below the main tray: Remington 870 Compact Shotgun, metal baseball bat, whiskey flask with whiskey flask carrier, Gold watch, sunglasses and extra left hand

Here's DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Spade 2 (Nelson) 12-inch figure (animated Vinnie Jones) straight out of the box

DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 (Nelson) 12-inch figure comes with 1/6 scale animated Vinnie Jones head sculpt, 12-inch Action Figure body, Black T-shirt, Long Sleeve Tee (hooded sweater), Baseball Jacket, Gold Necklace, blue jeans, skating board shoes (one pair).

That's three layers of clothing Spade 2 is wearing. In the next review, I'll be showing what he wears underneath the baseball jacket and hooded sweater

Spade 2's 1/6 scale baseball jacket has a very nice and detailed design on the back which says "Death baseball"

The DAM Toys Spade 2 head sculpt is really very nice and looks much better than the drawing of him on the card

There's no mistaking that this is Vinnie Jones who was also Juggernaut in the 2006 film, "X-Men: The Last Stand"

Scroll down to see close-up pictures of the DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 Spade 2 Vinnie Jones head sculpt

I absolutely love this stylized caricature version head sculpt of Vinnie Jones. The best part of it all is you don't have to pay a premium price for it. Back in the day and even now, Hot Toys charges a premium for stylized figures like these designed by some of the Hong Kong toy designers. There's no movie license to be paid so the cost doesn't seem justifiable.

Now we can get these great sculpts for a most reasonable price. Considering the quality of the sculpts and highly detailed and well stitched fabric clothing costumes and well made accessories, I think this is really value for money :)

The frown, the frustrated and angry demeanor comes off very well.

He's got the "I'll kill you right where you stand" look

check out the embroidered logo sewn onto the back of his baseball jacket. Amazing!

Close-up view of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 12-inch Spade 2 (Nelson) 1/6 scale accessories: Remington 870 Compact Shotgun with six shotgun cartridges (loaded upside down and non-removable so I couldn't take them out and reload them in the holder), metal baseball bat (with simulated blood splatter), whiskey flask and whiskey flask carrier, Gold watch, sunglasses and extra left hand

continued from previous post...

I've covered the packaging and contents of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure in the previous post. What we don't see are the many layers of clothing Spade 2 (Nelson) wears which consist of a Black T-shirt, Long Sleeve Tee (hooded sweater), Baseball Jacket.

So in this post, I'm stripping him down to his tees and showing off his body. I'll also show Spade 2 with his hooded sweater further down the post. Scroll down to see the pictures :)

DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure comes with 1/6 scale head sculpt (which looks a lot like Vinnie Jones - albeit animated but still GOOD), 12-inch Action Figure body, sunglasses, Black T-shirt, Long Sleeve Tee (hooded sweater), Baseball Jacket, blue jeans, skating board shoes (one pair), interchangeable hands x 3, Remington 870 Compact Shotgun, metal baseball bat, whiskey flask, whiskey flask carrier, Gold watch, Gold Necklace.

So here's DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 12-inch Spade 2 figure with his shades, black tee, gold necklace, gold watch, blue jeans with brown leather-like belt and buckle plus adidas high cut shoes. He's holding the whiskey flask (with opening cap) with the whiskey flask carrier

The jeans appear to be a bit big when seen like this but looks fine with the hooded sweater or jacket worn. Scroll down to see the rest of the turnaround views as well as the hooded sweater look.

Close-up views of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom Spade 2 12-inch figure with 1/6 scale black t-shirt, gold necklace and whisky flask

If this guy offered you a sip from his flask, would you dare take his whisky?

Belt buckle is a tad big, no? but hey, I don't mind it at all. Seriously, I'm loving this new line so far :)

DAM Toys has scored two out of two for me and you can hit this one right out of the ball park (pun intended). Check out the details of his gold watch (click on the picture for a bigger and better view)

Nice details on the whisky flask carrier. The whisky flask is also nicely done with opening cap

Here's a closer view of the adidas high cut skating board shoes

Now for pictures of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure dressed in hooded sweater and armed with his metal baseball bat

Out of the three hands included, one of them is meant for him to grasp his bat properly

The baseball bat comes with blood splatter on one side for that additional bloody look if you like (see my previous post for pictures of the 1/6 scale metal baseball bat close up)

Sure wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley when he's dressed like that and carrying that baseball bat ;p

Finally! After reviewing the box and contents of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure HERE and then stripping him to his black t-shirt HERE, we get to see Nelson (Spade 2's other name) with his baseball jacket back on and carrying his Remington 870 Compact Shotgun, ready to hit the streets of Rio where he's running a business dealing in drugs and guns - that's what the box description says of this character, the second figure to be released under DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom series, the first figure being Spade J (Jack of Spades, real name Ogier, Nelson's step brother). You can check out the review of Spade J HERE

This Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale figure series by DAM Toys has been a most refreshing change from the usual offerings by other companies, either movie-related or military themed. It's always nice to see something different and although some companies try, they don't always get it right. Examples of NOT getting it right are Steam Factory's 1/6 scale Knight Captain Locke 12" Steampunk figure (previewed HERE) and CooModel's 1/6 scale Cowboy Skull Brothers Big Brother (with Movable eyes) - pictures HERE. I just don't get it haha

DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure comes with a 1/6 scale head sculpt (which looks a lot like Vinnie Jones - albeit animated but still bearing a very GOOD likeness), 12-inch Action Figure body, sunglasses, Black T-shirt, Long Sleeve Tee (hooded sweater), Baseball Jacket, blue jeans, skateboarding shoes (one pair), interchangeable hands x 3 (2 + 1), Remington 870 Compact Shotgun, metal baseball bat, whiskey flask, whiskey flask carrier, Gold watch, Gold Necklace.

Here I've removed the hooded sweater (see my previous post with pictures of Spade 2 with just his sweater and baseball bat) and dressed him with just his black tee and baseball jacket

Love the embroidered picture on the back of his jacket showing the grim reaper Death playing baseball

DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 12-inch figure cuts a mean side profile view as well

The 1/6 scale Remington 870 Compact Shotgun is very nice except that the six shotgun cartridges are loaded upside down and are non-removable so I couldn't take them out and reload them in the holder :(

Here's DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade 2 (Vinnie Jones) armed with his baseball bat and shotgun. You definitely do not want to mess with him ;p

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures. Why so many? Because this guy is just too much fun to shoot and he looks good in every which way

Review Artist Jason Freeny and 4D Master 41-piece 3D Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy

$

A gummy bear (German: Gummibärchen) is a small, fruit gum candy, similar to a jelly baby in some English-speaking countries. The candy is roughly 2 centimetres (0.79 in) long and shaped in the form of a bear. The gummy bear originated in Germany in 1922, where it is popular under the name Gummibär (gum or gummy bear) or in the endearing form Gummibärchen ([little] gum or gummy bear). Gum arabic was the original base ingredient used to produce the gummy bears, hence the name gum or gummy.

New York City based artist and designer Jason Freeny's early success as an artist came with his creations of a series of fictional anatomical character schematics and illustrations in 2007 including the anatomy of the Gummy Bear but was most noted when he began creating anatomical toy sculptures shortly after.

You would have thought that gummy bears were all sugar and gelatin, but according to artist Jason Freeny, they also have their own tiny, disproportioned skeletons. Jason Freeny developed this 41 pieces 3D puzzle - the Gummi Bear Anatomy Toy. Now you can become an expert in gummy anatomy – and develop a whole new sense of guilt when eating them.

Teaming up with Fame Master, the masters of anatomical toys, makers of Kikkerland and 4D Master anatomical 3D puzzles comes this 8-inch Anatomical Gummy Bear 3D puzzle. The puzzle is housed in a transparent body, has 41 removable internal parts and measures 8.25 inches tall x 4.5 inches wide x 4 inches deep.

Recently, I was one of the six people randomly selected to purchase his personally signed Gummi Bear Anatomy Toy in the Gummi lottery he held on Facebook. There were a lot of people who put in their desire for the figure, me being one of them and I was blessed to be picked :) Good things must be shared so I'm posting lots of pictures and a full review of the Jason Freeny and 4D Master 41-piece Gummi Bear Anatomy Toy for everyone to enjoy ;p

The outer clear transparent plastic case is made of very good quality plastic and is very sturdy, and stands up easily on its own. Artist and designer Jason Freeny has added his "Johnny Hancock" (signature) on the bear's back. The Gummi Bear skeleton is made of a slightly bendable plastic so it is easy to assemble. The bear's brain is made up of two parts

The internal organs are solid and durable. There are the left and right lungs, intestines, stomach, liver, spinal cord, heart and esophagus.

There's also an instruction sheet to show you how to put everything together. Click on the picture for a bigger and better view.

Here's the 4D Master 41-piece Gummi Bear Anatomy Toy with skeleton assembled. NOTE: I only realized later that the vertebrae has been fixed wrongly (oops). The pointy ends are suppose to face out.

Gummi Bear brains (left and right side) exposed. From this angle, the skeleton looks like it belongs to that of Mr Burns from The Simpsons cartoon show haha

Here's the Jason Freeny and 4D Master 41-piece 3D Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy with all the internal organs assembled

Scroll down to see the turnaround views

The skull is made up of 6 parts and the lower jaw bone (lower mandible) is movable. The top of the skull can be removed so that the brains can be fitted inside the skull.

The skeletal structure is pretty complete with skull, lower mandible, cervical vertebrae, thoracic vertebrae, lumbar vertebrae, caudal vertebrae, rib cage, scapula, humerus, radius, ulna, carpus, metacarpus, phalanges, pelvis, femur and tibia

This Jason Freeny and 4D Master 41-piece 3D Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy would have been anatomically correct, if Gummy Bears indeed had internal organs and skeleton ;p

Nonetheless, this is a beautiful piece of art and I'm really glad I was able to get my hands on it :)

Not only is this bear awesome, it’s an educational toy as well! What better way to teach about bones and organs than with the world’s most iconic candy! Awesome display at the office or at home and a great gift for anyone with a sweet tooth (if you can get your hands on it)!

Did you ever wonder what a Gummy Bear would look like on the inside if it wasn’t made of corn syrup, sugar and gelatin? With this 4D Master 41-piece 3D Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy designed by artist Jason Freeny, you’ll be able to see past the delicious gummy treat and into its physiology through its transparent body!

Here's the gummi bear enclosed within its clear plastic case. What a great art piece :)

4D Master 41-piece 3D Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy signed by Artist Jason Freeny (1 of 6). I was just happy to have a chance to get this figure. Getting it signed is a nice bonus :)

I have a fascination and great liking for transparent and see-through stuff so this 4D Master 41-piece 3D Clear Gummi Bear Anatomy Puzzle Toy certainly sits well with me.

"Roger Roger"

Sideshow Collectibles is proud to introduce the Security Battle Droid Sixth Scale Figure Set from the Militaries of Star Wars collection!

Though some criticize battle droids’ mindlessness, supporters of these mechanized soldiers argue that this is, in fact, a virtue. Following orders without question, these loyal droids are easily controlled and absolutely fearless. Each droid is identified by a numerical marking, and various colors denote droid specialties. Security Droids are distinguished by their unique red markings. The Sideshow Collectibles Security Droids – Sixth Scale figure set allows collectors to build their own Confederate army comprised of fully articulated droids, fresh from the assembly line or gun shot and battle weathered.

Recognized by their red shoulder markings, the Security Battle Droids come ready to serve the Trade Federation, guarding prisoners and removing intruders. Issued with one standard E-5 Blaster Rifle each, these clankers could be dangerous – except for their notorious inability to hit the broad side of a bantha if their circuits depended on it.

PREPARE TO FIRE – BLAST THEM!

Engineered with a full range of articulation, and finished with uniquely detailed paint deco, the robust OOM-series B1 predecessors are packed with attitude and personality. On their own, or accumulated in squads, the Security Battle Droid Sixth Scale Figure Sets offer endless display options for the imaginative Star Wars enthusiast!

Sideshow Collectibles Militaries of Star Wars Security Battle Droids Sixth Scale Figure Set includes: One ‘Factory Fresh’ Battle Droid and One ‘Battle Damaged’ Veteran Battle Droid. Each Battle Droid has a fully articulated body and detailed paint deco + Two (2) E-5 Blaster Rifles

Pictures of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J & Spade 2 12" figures together

continued from earlier post...

Two peas in a pod!

Here are pictures of DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J (stylized Jason Statham) and Spade 2 (animated Vinnie Jones) 12-inch figures standing side-by-side. Spade J (Jack of Spades, real name Ogier, Nelson's step brother) and Spade 2 (Nelson, dealing in drugs and guns in Rio) were released by DAM Toys under their new Gangsters Kingdom line but both bear a lot of resemblance to real life actors Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones respectively, even though they are rendered in a very caricature-like manner. The sculptured hands also match the head sculpts and they look really good (quality is top notch too!). Best part of it all is: they are value-for-money i.e. NOT expensive and easily affordable which is great when there are so many figures to choose from nowadays :)

IMHO this could be the line of the year for DAM Toys because this is something totally different from the usual line of military figures and military uniform sets being offered by 1/6 scale manufacturers OR the movie-related figures from Hot Toys, Play Imaginative and Sideshow Collectibles (mainly Star Wars). We've been bombarded by so many Iron Man figures from Hot Toys and Play Imaginative that some of us have become numb and jaded to the overkill. I'm just glad I'm not a hard core Iron Man fan / completist collector who must have everything that is Iron Man being offered - phew!

Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures of DAM Toys Spade 2 and Spade J

Reviews of DAM Toys Spade 2 figure with lots of pictures can be viewed HERE, HERE and HERE

Spade J was reviewed earlier HERE, HERE and HERE

DAM Toys quality is very good here in terms of the stitching and tailoring of the fabric outfits and clothing plus accessories. The 12-inch figure bodies are nice and tight with no loose joints and the 1/6 scale head sculpts are really NICE

What I love about 1/6 scale figures is that you can easily strip them and put them in different clothing sets, and kitbash or customize them as a different characters altogether. I'm eager to put Spade J in a suit and transform him into animated Frank Martin the Transporter.

Spade 2 could just as easily be customized as Frank Castle the Punisher

What a fine pair they make. This dynamic duo will soon be joined by Spade 3 and the terrific trio they'll become ;p

Very pleased with these DAM Toys Gangsters Kingdom 1/6 scale Spade J and Spade 2 12-inch action figures and I would highly recommend them to anyone

Review 1: Art Figures 1/6 Soldiers Of Fortune 2 Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen 12-inch figure

The Expendables is a 2010 American ensemble action film written by David Callaham and Sylvester Stallone, and directed by Stallone. The film is about a group of elite mercenaries tasked with a mission to overthrow a Latin American dictator whom they soon discover to be a mere puppet controlled by a ruthless ex-CIA officer. It pays tribute to the blockbuster action films of the 1980s and early 1990s, and stars an array of action veterans from those decades, including Stallone, Eric Roberts, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Gary Daniels, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Schwarzenegger in a cameo role), as well as more recent stars such as Randy Couture, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, and Steve Austin.

One of the members of the Expendables is Dolph Lundgren who plays Gunner Jensen. Dolph Lundgren is a Swedish actor, director, and martial artist. He belongs to a generation of film actors who epitomise the action hero stereotype, alongside Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

This is the recently released Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch action figure. The figure does bear a striking resemblance to Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen in The Expendables, not just in the likeness of the head sculpt but also in terms of outfit, gear and accessories. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures :)

This Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 follows after their AF-010 1/6 scale Soldiers of Fortune 12-inch action figure which was essentially Jason Statham as Lee Christmas from The Expendables. You can check out the earlier reviews of Art Figures AF-010 1/6 scale Soldiers of Fortune 12-inch action figure "Lee Christmas" HERE, HERE and HERE

Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen 12-inch figure comes with a 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch figure body, black hoodie, black combat pants with knee pads, Black Tactical Vest, Holster, gloves, black beanie (cold cap), Milkor MGL 140 grenade launcher, 40mm grenade rounds x 6, M9 pistol, Remington M870 Shotgun with 3 shotgun shells and a LARGE knife

Here's the Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch figure (Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen in The Expendables) straight out of the box, kitted out in black hoodie, black gloves, black combat pants with knee pads and belt, black combat boots.

Gunner is holding his HUGE A$$ knife! The hands of all Art Figures 12-inch figures are all 1/6 scale bendy hands i.e. they are flexible and posable because there is a thin wire inside every digit / phalanges of the hand. That's why the hands can be made to grasp the blade handle easily

Scroll down to see the turnaround views of Art Figures Soldiers Of Fortune 2 figure

Hot Toy has acquired the license to produce The Expendables 12-inch figures a while back already and so far they have only released two Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross 1/6 scale figures and nothing / nobody else! I think Hot Toys is going to ditch the line like they did "The Platoon" figures with only Charlie Sheen as Chris Taylor and Tom Berenger as Staff Sergeant Robert Barnes figures released. Can somebody tell Hot Toys that a duo doesn't make up a platoon, not even a squad!

It seems Hot Toys are just happy to keep pumping out their Iron Man figures because that is their cash cow and they have been milking it like forever. That's fine but just don't leave collectors in the lurch and dump lines as soon as they come out. There are so many unfinished lines it boggles the mind. Don't produce if you cannot commit because it leaves a bad aftertaste.

Check out the close-up views of the Art Figures Soldiers Of Fortune 2 1/6 scale Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen head sculpt. I think Hot Toys aren't the only ones with the good realistic life-like sculpts

Gunner looks as mean as he does in the films and the resemblance is very good IMHO

From every angle you can tell right away that this is Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen. I didn't like Hot Toys version of Bruce Willis as General Joe Colton head sculpt at all. HPC Toys did a pretty decent Bruce Willis head sculpt recently - see the pictures HERE and HERE. Bruce Willis was in the Expendables films too so let's see who's next in line for Art Figures to release.

Dolph Lundgren's breakthrough came when he starred in Rocky IV in 1985 as the imposing Russian boxer Ivan Drago. Since then, he has starred in more than 40 movies, almost all of them in the action genre. He was Frank Castle in the 1989 film The Punisher, making him the first of three Punishers to play on the big screen.

Now that's a thought: a 1/6 scale Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle the Punisher 12-inch figure :)

Here are the 1/6 scale accessories for the Art Figures 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch figure all laid out. They are: Black Tactical Assault Vest, combat belt with pouch, black beanie (cold cap), drop-down pistol Holster, Beretta M9 pistol with 2 pistol magazines, Remington M870 Shotgun with 3 shotgun shells, LARGE Bowie knife (made by Gil Hibben for the movie), Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher (shown taken apart in picture below), 40mm grenade rounds x 6.

I realized the difference between military collectors and some Hot Toys collectors when I opened the packaging for the Hot Toys G.I. Joe Retaliation: 1/6th scale Snake Eyes 12-inch Collectible Figure (see my reviews HERE and HERE). Some (NOT all) Hot Toys collectors expect everything to be pre-assembled when they receive the figure because either they do not know how to put on the accessories properly OR they cannot be bothered to do it (might be both). For every broken strap or part damaged in the assembling process, they'll go complaining to Hot Toys and expect replacement parts hence Hot Toys has decided that all figures shipped will have everything already assembled so as to reduce the complaints from some of these ignorant, complacent and hard-to-please collectors (I'm not saying all Hot Toys collectors are like that but I do know of a few who fall into this category). Not only that, Hot Toys has also reduced the number of accessories considerably so that no further assembly is required, in a bid to further reduce the number of unwanted complaints (that and also extra accessories cost extra to make as well - God forbid that they should lower their profit margins)! Used to be you buy a figure, open it up and play / pose with it. Now, more people are buying it, keeping it sealed in the box and hoping to sell it later for profit. Never open the box nor take out the figure. SIGH

Military collectors, on the other hand, live to assemble and kit a figure up because that is part of the FUN :) As a military enthusiast, putting on the gear and accessories is akin to putting the kit on yourself and you feel the satisfaction of assembling the figure just as a real operator would kit up to prepare for battle. That's why most military figure sets come unassembled so that we can get involved in the gearing up process which can be quite an enjoyable, especially when everything comes together nicely. Collecting military figures does not make one a war monger. Most are hard core pacifists, yet still find military subject matters fascinating :)

I said all that because Art Figures 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch figure does require some assembling (very minimal compared to other military figures out there). I even took apart the Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher to see how many parts it can become ;p All's well and the Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher is now assembled back together in the picture below, with the six 40mm grenade rounds loaded in the chamber. Triad Toys still trying with 1/6 scale Gunn 4 Hire: Catalina 12-inch female biker action figure

This is an upcoming release by Triad Toys (believe it or not, they are still around). Triad Toys Sixth Scale Figure Catalina Reyes - Asset Recovery Operator will come with: Hand painted 1/6 scale female head sculpt with rooted hair, Tan Skin ALPHA Medium Bust 12-inch Female Body, Zip-up Red Colored Leather Motorcycle Jacket, Red Colored Leather Motorcycle Pants, Military Style Boots, Red Motorcycle Helmet with custom options: Removable Sun Shade, Flip-up Visor, Flip-Up Face Mask. Also included: Leather Shoulder Holster, .45 Pistol, M4 Assault Rifle with interchangeable components: Fore grip, Aim Point, Detachable magazine, Adjustable stock, Infrared illuminator. 4 pairs of interchangeable motorcycle gloved hands including Pistol Grip Hands, Open Palm Hands, Fist Hands and Power Pose Hands

Certainly looks promising from these shots / preview pictures (at least until the helmet is removed). The M4 assault rifle is perhaps a little outdated in use in the 1/6 scale world as there have been so many versions of the M4 being released over the years. It has since been replaced by the FN SCAR-L, SCAR-H LB and HK417. Even the AKM would have been a nice touch. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures.

The biker / motorcycle helmet looks cool

but seems a little on the big side

Aaarrgggghhhhh! Put the helmet back on

Is that supposed to be Danny Trejo (Machete) without his moustache? LOL

Not one of the best head sculpts out there

Also Triad Toys quality has been suspect for a long time. It got so bad my local retailer stopped stocking Triad Toys products and taking orders for them because it was too much hassle going back and forth with exchanges and replacement parts. Mind you, my retailer stocks almost every other 1/6 scale manufacturer's products so that must tell you just how bad Triad Toys products are.

Expendables Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lungren) 12" Figure - Art Figures 1/6 Soldiers Of Fortune 2

continued from previous post...

This is how Dolph Lungren looks as Gunner Jensen in The Expendables 2, all thanks to Art Figures :) This is Art Figures AF012 1/6 scale Soldiers Of Fortune 2 12-inch action figure fully kitted out with his gear and accessories. In the previous post, I covered the box packaging and contents, with a detailed breakdown and layout of the 1/6 scale accessories as well as showing close-up views of this Art Figures 1/6 Soldiers Of Fortune 2 head sculpt and basic outfit without his vest and weapons.

Here 1/6 scale Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lungren) is wearing black beanie (cold cap), black hoodie, Black Tactical Vest, black combat pants with knee pads, combat belt with pouch, drop-down pistol Holster, gloves and black combat boots. He is armed with the Milkor MGL 140 grenade launcher with 6 x 40mm grenade rounds loaded in the cylinder, Beretta M9 pistol, Remington M870 Shotgun with 3 shotgun shells and a LARGE Bowie knife in sheath. Scroll down to see the rest of the pictures

How good is the Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lungren) 1/6 scale head sculpt by Art figures? IMHO it is top notch because from the pictures taken, you could easily mistaken them as studio shots to promote the movie. He looks very life-like and realistic and could be mistaken for the actual actor just from looking at the pictures :)

Check out these close-up pictures taken of the Art Figures AF012 Soldiers Of Fortune 2 1/6 scale Dolph Lungren as Gunner Jensen head sculpt. This is a very good likeness of Dolph Lungren as seen in The Expendables films.

Now for some close-up shots of the figure itself, zooming in first on the black tactical assault vest as well as the various weapons carried on his person.

Great figure and great attention to detail. LOVE this :)

Here are close-up pictures of the 1/6 scale Milkor MGL Mk 1L grenade launcher. The cool thing is that the grenade launcher can be stripped and taken apart and then put back together.

Pop Toys presents X09 of Style Series – 1/6 scale Master Ninja Suit with Henri Ducard head

This will be POPTOYS next release - Pop Toys X09 of Style Series 1/6 scale Master Ninja Suit (Suit Pattern). The “style series” is a series of 1:6 scale action figure, which is characterized with exquisite tailoring and workmanship. “X” in the logo represents a pair of scissors. At the same time, it is the first letter in Pinyin of Chinese character “Xing”, which means style.

This Pop Toys presents X09 of Style Series – 1/6 scale Master Ninja Suit (Suit Pattern) will come with a 1/6 scale Head sculpt, Black Suit (Jacket and pants), Purple Shirt, Leather Belt, Black Tie, Black Shoes, Visor/ Mask, Walking stick with concealed blade / knife, Gloved Hands x 3. Note: body in the picture is not included. Body in the picture is Hot Toys’ narrow shoulders male body.

In the 2005 superhero film "Batman Begins" based on the fictional DC Comics character Batman, co-written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Liam Neeson is Henri Ducard: A mysterious man who trains Bruce Wayne in the martial arts. Initially posing as a subservient member of the League of Shadows, an organization led by Ra's al Ghul, it is later revealed that he is Ra's al Ghul himself who used the name "Ducard" as a pseudonym to hide his true identity.

Here's Henri Ducard wearing the gas mask to protect himself just as the League of Shadows prepares to vaporize the city's toxin-riddled water supply, making it airborne and creating mass hysteria and violence.

Liam Neeson has been a Jedi Knight in George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, ex-CIA agent in the "Taken" films (check out my kitbash of Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills HERE), Zeus in "Clash and Wraith of the Titans", Admiral Shane in "Battleship", John "Hannibal" Smith in "The A-Team" and Aslan in "Narnia"

This looks pretty good. The suit is nice and the head sculpt of Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard does bear the actor's likeness and the resemblance is quite close.

HoT Toys never did release any Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard / Ra's al Ghul 12-inch figure so this will certainly make a nice addition to complete any Batman collection.

This MC Toys snow space set looks like its straight out of Inception. They even used a still from the movie in the first picture. This will definitely go well with the 1/6 scale Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb head sculpt I have - see pictures of my kitbash Leonardo DiCaprio as Dom Cobb 12-inch figure HERE. Not seen an arctic outfit / uniform set being offered in plain / simple white for a while. Certainly looks promising. Material looks good, nice and thick.

MC TOYS F-029 1/6 scale Snow Space set will come with Snow coat, Snow pants, Snow boots, Gaiters, Chest rig, Pack, Glove, Beanie, Snow goggles, Base layer, Arm sleeve. Other Snow troops released some time ago include the Dragon Models Limited (DML) "Ryan" from 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) posted HERE in 2009, and Hasbro's G.I.
